this quote means that being a good person is better than having trophies. If you're is a competition and you really want to win it's better to do the right thing and lose than to win through cheating. If you lose a competition then you'd still be a winner because you followed all the rules. If you win by cheating then you're a loser because you chose the wrong. doing whats right, fair, and honorable means that you're following all the rules and being fair to other contestants in a competition. In life doing whats right, fair, and honorable means you're respecting the law.
