chipotle

A couple months ago there was an E. Coli outbreak is several chipotle restaurants. In January 27, 2016 the CDC reported 55 people infected with E. Coli linked to the food-chain. The outbreak involved 11 states, California (3), Delaware (1), Illinois (1), Kentucky (1), Maryland (1), Minnesota (2), New York (1), Ohio (3), Oregon (13), Pennsylvania (2), and Washington (27). There were a total of 21 hospitalizations. Most of these cases were reported in Oregon and Washington in October 2015. Chipotle closed 43 restaurants following this outbreak and were working with investigators to determine when it would be appropriate to reopen the restaurants. They are making sure to replace all the food they had and making sure nobody is sick when they come back to work. This issue could relate to me because maybe i could’ve been someone that ate chipotle and gotten the illness, but thankfully i don’t like chipotle.

memorial day

Image result for memorial dayMemorial day is an american holiday on the last monday in May that honors and respects all the people that died while serving our country. It originated in the years following the civil war and became an official holiday in 1971. Ways to celebrate memorial day are attend a parade to show veterans that you’re thankful. You can also decorate with flags or the colors red white and blue. Buying poppies is also a good way to celebrate memorial day. It’s very important to show thanks to our veterans for everything they’ve fought for. For memorial day I’m going to buy poppies to show my respect and gratitude towards all the soldiers who have unfortunately lost their lives fighting for this country. The reason poppies connect to memorial day is because in 1915 Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote a poem that included a line that mentions how in Flanders, poppies grew atop the graves of veterans.

one direction is trash

one direction is literally the worst band on the planet. right after zayn left everything went just fell apart. everything they do is for publicity like how much more publicity do you need when you're the biggest band on the planet. but other than that theyre greeeaaaatt. louis is the best one because he's small and precious. harry is the second best since he's not my favorite. niall is the third best because he goes missing a lot and it makes me sad. liam is last because im in a love/hate relatonship with him. he broke up with his best girlfriend sophia and they were supposed to get married like what the heck. they're all very nice amazing people. they're really goofy people and i like that because they're themselves and they dont have this fake personality. they have a lot of fake stuff going on in their careers but that will never change who they are. all they want to do is make music, make people happy and change the world. it makes me mad when people hate them for being a boyband because they're all amazing people. it's ok to not to like their music or whatever but doesnt mean you can entirely judge them based off of that. they've never done anything to harm people or anything so they deserve respect even if you don't like their music. ANYWAY i love one direction theyre great. i love them the same way i did before zayn left and after zayn left. i still miss zayn tho but he's gotta do whatever makes him happy and therefore i am happy too.

presidents day

Presidents day is a national holiday in which the american people celebrate all the presidents past and present. It is in February on the 3rd Monday. Presidents day was created to celebrate George Washington's birthday on February 22nd but in 1975 it was moved to Monday in order to create a 3-day weekend for the nations workers. Presidents Day is used by many patriotic and historical groups as a date for staging celebration, reenactments, and other events. Some states also require public schools to teach about the accomplishments of the presidents, often focusing on the lives of Washington and Lincoln. Facts about Presidents Day is cherries are often used for desert because of the cherry tree Washington cut down. On Presidents Day some focus on only George Washington, some focus on few presidents, and some focus on all presidents.

student services

LAUSD Student Services

Student Services are very useful because someone might have a question on something and they could just look at the LAUSD website and find it. If someone has a question about graduation requirements and can't ask a teacher/counselor then they could look it up on LAUSD. The student services given are helpful because someone might want to learn more about a certain something that LAUSD has. I can apply the services to myself in case i want to know more about something or if i have questions about the services.

thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated by many countries. All the countries have different origins stories. For example, the history of Thanksgiving Day in the united states started with a ship filled with a hundred white people coming from England, named Mayflower. The pilgrims dropped an anchor far north of their destination at the Hudson River and a month later made it to Massachusetts Bay. Half of the passengers on Mayflower died for exposure of disease and the cold of Winter, only half of them lived to see the first day of Spring. The pilgrims didn't know how to farm in the new land, so a native american, Squanto, taught the pilgrims how to cultivate corn, extract sap from maple trees, catch fish in the rivers and avoid poisonous plants. In November of 1621, after the corn harvest was successful, the governor of their town, Plymouth, organized a celebratory feast known as the "First Thanksgiving" that lasted 3 days. Thanksgiving didn't become an official holiday till 1817 when New York was the first state to adopt an annual Thanksgiving Day. Finally, in 1863, Abraham Lincoln made it a national holiday, scheduled for the 4th Thursday of November every year.

the twin towers

The Twin Towers

On September 11, 2001, it was a normal day in New York; children were going to school, people were boarding planes, people were going shopping in Downtown Manhattan, and families were saying goodbye to their loved ones who worked at the World Trade Center. Little did anyone know that this standard day in New York would change their lives. Around 8:40 am an unexpected plane was headed for the north twin tower. At 8:46 am the first plane hit one of the twin towers causing it to burn up in flames and immediately killing several hundreds people. Firefighters and paramedics rushed to save people but some died too. At 9:03 am a second plane was headed into the second twin tower. Both buildings collapsed and turned into dust. There were two other planes in the same attack, the third plane crashed into the pentagon on D.C., and the fourth crashed an a field in Pennsylvania.

My first memory of the 9/11 terrorist attack was on May 2, 2011. This was the day Osama Bin Laden was tracked down and killed by the US. i remember it was already night time and i was watching the news. My sister came into the room and was shouting that Osama had been killed. I didn't know he was the person who planned the 9/11 terrorist attack until she had explained it to me.

My thoughts on this attack is that it was horrible. I feel upset when i think about this day because so many lives were ended. People were jumping out of buildings and some couldn't escape the towers in time to save themselves. My personal insight is that Bush did 9/11.
