Duties and Responsibilities: Mental health counselors help people who have normal cognitive processes cope with difficult life events such as physical illness, death of loved ones, and relationship problems or divorce.Some counselors help people manage serious mental illnesses like bipolar disorder.

Education:The first thing you need to become a mental health counselor is a bachelor’s degree. Then you need to earn your Master’s degree. YOu can take courses such as psychopathology, domestic violence, substance and sexual abuse, personality disorders, gender, grief and counseling and group counseling. You also need 3000 hours of post-master’s. Finally you earn licensure.

Demand for this profession: The outlook for this type of job is very positive.

Reflection: I wouldn’t want to become a mental health counselor because i’m not very good at helping people with their problems.
