What this quote means is that if you choose the right then you won't have to work hard for the good things in life. For example, if you have a good education and good character then the good things will come to you. You just have to lead your life into the correct path. If you lead yourself into the wrong path then the good things in life will be practically unattainable. You'll have to work twice as hard to achieve your dreams if you choose the wrong rather than someone who chooses the right because they'll barely have to work for it. Always lead your life in the right path because you may never know what good things you might get. IF you choose the wrong then all you'll get is bad karma until you fix your character and become a good person. It costs nothing to have a good character but having bad character can cost you a lot of good karma.
