Optician
Duties and Responsibilities: An
optician is a technical practitioner who designs, fits, and dispenses
corrective lenses to correct people’s vision. Opticians determine the
specifications of contact lenses, spectacles lenses, low vision aids or
ophthalmic prosthetics that will give the necessary correction to some one’s
eyesight.
Salary: The hourly pay of an optician can be
from $10.10 up to $20.80. The annual salary is $21,725 - $48,843
Education: The education requirement
for an optician is only up to a High School diploma. It would be more
recommended to have opticianry certificates or associate’s degrees.
Reflection: I would not want to be an
optician because it doesn’t seem like a very interesting job. Checking people’s
eyes and seeing they need an ophthalmic appliance doesn’t seem at all exciting.
