This quote means that obedience will help you reach your success. when you follow the rules, achieving something will be easier for you. Following the rules wont create obstacles for you or make success harder to achieve, it will make success easier to reach. For example, in school, getting good grades means being able to graduate. If a certain class is hard, all you have to do is do what the teacher tells you to do like listen in class, do your classwork, do your homework, study for tests, etc. Doing what you're supposed to do is like you're building your way to success. Not doing what you're supposed to do would make you stumble on your way to success. So if obedience is your goal, success will be easier to achieve.
